Anyone else getting excited? 

We've had more sponsorships for our Categories roll in, which are greatly appreciated; there are also three newly announced international "Best Of" awards listed over on the Categories page as well.  And the club spent this past Friday night stuffing the goodie bags with decals, paperwork, schedules, programs, and so forth... it was a huge and well-attended meeting, with a lot of positive energy and excitement about what we're about to do.  We are all looking forward to getting this show on the road starting bright and early tomorrow!

This is shaping up to be one helluva week, folks- we can't wait to see you!

5 days and a wakeup!!!

Our Chairman, John Lent, has an important message regarding refunds for our guests who had previously signed up for the tours:

To Our Guests –

As a follow-up to last week’s tour cancellation announcement, I wanted to inform each guest who paid for a tour about our refund process. All tour refunds will be handled by the IPMS USA Office Manager, Ms. M.J. Kinney. Ms Kinney will be available at the convention to provide your refund at the IPMS USA desk located in the lobby area on Wednesday through Friday (6-8 August) from 9:00 - 5:00 p.m. Ms. Kinney will provide a cash refund to each guest who purchased a tour ticket. All guests who received a tour refund will be required to sign a log acknowledging they received their full refund payment We will also announce this process during the convention.

Again, we are very disappointed we could not conduct the tours as scheduled at this year’s convention. We apologize for any inconvenience. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at eljefe@ipmsusa2014.com. Thank you for your patience and support.

6 days and a wakeup!!!

We are pleased to announce even more Vendors and sponsors for our Categories, and we have one important announcement.  Per our Contest Chairman Jared Nuss, online registration for the 2014 IPMS-USA National Convention will close as of 12pm midnight EST on Friday, August 1st.  So if you haven't registered online yet, please head to the Registration page and follow the links!

More news, this time from our Vendor Chairman Mike Mattei for our vendors who will arriving early on Wednesday, 6 August: 

Due to unforeseen complications with our table rental company, there will be an hour delay on Wednesday morning from the originally planned start time... set up will now begin at 9am.  We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

One more piece of schedule related business: model registration will officially open on-site at 1:00 PM EST Wednesday, 6 August.

Our Seminars listing is now complete, and there is truly something for everyone this year, whether you are interested in automotive, aviation, nautical, space, or sci-fi topics.  Brian Starkes has done a fantastic job bringing this talented group of people together and we're certain our guests will greatly enjoy the topics being presented!

Following on our message from last week, it is with considerable regret that we must announce the cancellation of the Tours which we had planned for the 2014 IPMS-USA National Convention.  Our Convention Chairman, John Lent, has composed the following message to our guests regarding this decision:

2014 IPMS National Convention Guests

I am writing to you today to inform you that we made the difficult decision to cancel the tours scheduled for August 7 and 8, 2014.  These cancellations affect the tours to the Mariners Museum, the U.S. Army Transportation Museum, the Military Aviation Museum, and the National Museum of the United States Marine Corps.  The cancellations were due to less than expected participation for each tour and the requirement to meet our contractual obligations by July 23, 2014.  For the convenience of our guests, we re-accomplished a contract with Tidewater Tours, Inc.  to provide shuttle bus service from the Hampton Roads Convention Center and the Virginia Air and Space Museum for members participating in the IPMS Social / Wounded Warrior Project Benefit.  We will post specific bus departure/arrival information at the convention for the folks attending this event.

For our guests who paid to attend one of our tours, you will receive a full refund.  We coordinated with the National Office, and we will be fully prepared to refund your payment at the convention.  We will provide additional information to you on the refund process prior to and during the convention.  Before closing, I wanted to let everyone know that our team was very excited about our tour offerings.  We believed these tours would appeal to modelers with a wide variety of modeling interests.   We are very disappointed with this outcome and we sincerely regret any inconvenience.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at eljefe@ipmsusa2014.com. Folks, this is vitally important... the deadline, as in the absolute, last chance, no kidding, now or never deadline to sign up for one of the tours will be Monday, July 21st.  After this date has passed, we are going to evaluate the number of participants we have signed up for the tour packages; as it stands currently, there is a real risk that some of these tours may be cancelled (with refunds being sent to those who've already signed up) due to less than anticipated participation.  So call your friends, call your neighbors, tell all your modeling buddies who are joining us here in Hampton that this coming Monday is it... that's your last chance to sign up for one of the tours. 

After we have the final numbers in for the tours and we've had a chance to process the numbers, we'll update the tour status here and on our Facebook page so everyone will be kept in the loop.

A couple important notes for today's update:

First, for those wishing to see the models and visit the vendor room but not actually enter the competition, the daily entrance fee is $5.00 for an individual, or $10.00 for a family, and no multi-day passes are available.

Second, our Registration Coordinator Jared Nuss is pleased to make the following announcement:

 The 2014 National Convention Packets for Pre-Registrations ordered on or before June 1 2014 were mailed to our pre-registered guests on June 30, 2014. The packets include your registration name tag and the tickets you purchased for the convention events. For our overseas pre-registrants, you will receive an e-mail version of your registration package shortly to ensure receipt of your materials. We will also maintain a printed version of your package at the will-call registration desk as a back-up.

Please note that any additional ticket items purchased by you after June 12, 2014 will not be mailed, but they will be available for pick up at the convention registration will-call desk.

If you do not receive your pre-registration packet by July, 11, 2014, please contact me at Registration@IPMSUSA2014.com, so we can make sure a new set is printed and mailed out. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at this address. Thank you for pre-registering, and we look forward to hosting you at the Hampton Roads Convention Center. Just over a month to go until the biggest model show in the world!   We have more sponsors listed in the Categories - thank you once again! - and the Seminars page has been updated as well.   Your Convention hosts are busy with the final planning for the show, ensuring every detail is considered and covered, and these next few weeks are going to absolutely FLY by as we race towards the finish line.  We can't wait to greet all of our visitors, and we hope you're as excited about the show as we are!
